Blanch House Fruit Scones Recipe

We have our very special recipe for you to make your own Fruit Scones at home! You will find they will be made to perfection ready for your very own British Traditional Cream Tea. Especially scrummy with clotted cream and your choice of jam. Splendid with just butter too!

Fruit Scones Recipe (courtesy Minnie Harris, a grandmother of a BH team member)

 

Mix in bowl

1kg Plain Flour
3 tblsp Baking Powder
2 tsp salt
200g sugar
300g Dried Fruit (sultanas / currants)

Rub in

200g Cold Butter ( can be cut into small cubes)

Mix in

400ml milk

Knead on a floured surface, adding extra flour if necessary until the dough is smooth and silky
Roll to 2/2.5cm thick and cut out into rounds
Egg wash and bake at 210 degrees  for 15 minutes.
Cool on a wire rack

Ready to eat with clotted cream and strawberry or raspberry jam
